Privacy Policy

Updated: September 24, 2026 App: com.walktog.app Developer: Nikolay Koychev (individual) Български

Walk Together (WalkTog) is an app for groups of friends that compares daily steps and optionally lets members share their live location. This page explains what data is collected, why, and how you can control or delete it.

Data we collect

Profile data at sign-in

Name, email address and profile photo from your Google account when you sign in with Google Sign-In. You can upload your own photo instead of the Google one.

Steps and activity with permission

Daily step count read from Health Connect (Android), only after you explicitly grant access. Used for the leaderboard in your groups.

Live location optional

Only when you turn on sharing for a specific group. It works only while the app is in the foreground, stops automatically, and is deleted about an hour after the last update or when you leave the group.

Group data

Group memberships, your role, and the display settings you choose (e.g. a group's color theme).

Push notification token

A technical token that Firebase uses to deliver notifications about group events (someone joined, leaderboard changes, location sharing).

Advertising data via Google AdMob

The app shows ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect your device's advertising ID, IP address, approximate location derived from it, and information about how you interact with ads. See the section on advertising below.

Revolut username optional

If you add your Revolut username, it is shown to members of your groups as a button that opens Revolut for direct payments between you. Walk Together never handles money and never sees transactions.

How we use data

We don't sell your data. Your steps (Health Connect data), live location and group data are never shared with advertisers or used for advertising.

Who we share data with

PartyRole
SupabaseDatabase hosting and authentication. Location and group data are restricted to members of the respective group by database-level access policies.
Google / FirebaseSign-in with Google and delivery of push notifications.
Google AdMobServing and measuring ads, and, only with your consent, personalizing them. See how Google uses data from apps that use its services.
Health ConnectAndroid system service. The app only reads steps, with your permission, and syncs the daily count to our server for the leaderboard.

All data is transmitted encrypted (HTTPS/TLS).

Advertising

Walk Together is free and supported by ads from Google AdMob. Ads never appear on the live map.

Retention and deletion

Location data expires automatically (~1 hour), and sharing stops when you close the app or leave the group. Other data (profile, memberships, step history) is kept while you have an account.

You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete account. This removes your profile and related personal data from our systems. Details: Delete your account.

Your rights

Children

Walk Together is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we will update the date above. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the current version.
